May 18, 2015. From Lidia Endres: This is my beautiful Brazilian friend, Katia Bymers, who lives in Waunakee and married a american man, like I did. She just finished writing a book that she dreamed about for a long time, "My Mom is from Brazil". I associate to her story in this book very much and I purchased two, one for my daughter, Vanessa and one for my daughter, Jessica (for her classroom). Katia wrote the words as we, Brazilians speak English as our second language, which makes the bo...ok even more true to our culture. In this book, she writes some of the special things in the Brazilian culture, how to pronounce the words and she illustrated the whole book herself, with items that make part of our culture. I know Brazilian Moms living in the USA will appreciate this book very much, but it is also a way to introduce a different culture to American kids. Our second country, the USA (Katia is also an American Citizen, having double citizenship) does not introduce other cultures in their schools and lives as Brazilians do, so I recommend you adding her book to your kids collection. otimo! Adoro divulgar coisas boas e seu livro é mesmo excelente. Os textos têm
uma rima gostosa e nada melhor que um livro legal para estimular o interesse
das crianças. Apesar deles viverem e conviverem com a nossa cultura, o livro
consegue materializar esse sentimento que nos indentificam, e agora eles sabem
que não é só aqui em casa que existe mamãe from Brazil. já tinha mostrado ao
meu filho a fitinha do bonfim , que olhou sem interesse. Ontem ele quis
colocar, fez os desejos e usa com orgulho! Hoje me perguntou se um dia
poderemos ir visitar a tal Igreja para que ele compre outras para os amiguinhos! Obrigada Katia!!
